From the pictures it appears to be in very good condition and the seats aren’t ripped like every other Si hatch of the time for some reason. The guy is a car n ut and he says that he took good care of it and replaced the clutch and stuff.   I’d post pictures if Kinja wasn’t so shit on mobile, so maybe later when I get home I’ll post em. For now, what say you Oppo?

NP (but yes, probably stolen as CB said).

When are you getting a ride? This is taking longer than I spent finding my first car!

I honestly have no idea at this point, my parents have been very on and off about it.

It’s okay, but at that point the suspension bushings & struts are probably worn out. If it’s been replaced at some point in the recent past I’d go for it without a second thought, otherwise either walk or, if you feel like tackling it yourself, get the seller to drop the price.

More importantly, how does the body look? Any obvious signs of rust?

Also go look at MotoIQ's EP3 Si hatch, as for visual looks I'd love to make it look like that

In Florida, so no rust period. And the stock suspension is wack anyways so I'd change it to something tighter.

Good idea, but quality suspension parts cost money, so keep that in mind when you’re calculating a fair price.   Ground Control coil- overs on Koni Yellows were the hot budget setup back when I was in the scene but that was another thousand+ bucks . I was a broke bitch back then (still am!) to do anything other than dream...

That said, I would much rather run a shitty OEM setup than eBay chinesium coilovers.

Yeah, when the time comes I'm gonna do it right. I plan on keeping it for a while and doing gradual good mods to it or something.

Reasonable first car. Heck, in the day, it would have been the kind of car a bad parent got their hooligan kid.

I would mind the budget on bushings and stuff. I would also drain everything day 1 - never know how long the coolant etc have been in there.

It’s a solid first autocross car as well though not sure what it competes in.

Check the engine mounts, they’re probably shot. My RSX (similar platform) tore its rear mount before 100k.

Front control arm bushings (the tall cylindrical ones) were also done at 150k. Speaking of which, I have a pair of nearly new OEM front Civic control arms in storage that I bought thinking they would fit on the RSX but the offset was slightly off. If you do get the EP3 let me know if you want them.

In Florida, so no rust period.

I don’t know how people still say cars do n’t rust in Florida. Sure, you don’t have to deal with snow/salt/slush, but winter isn’t the only season that corrodes cars. Florida is a place with incredibly moist air pretty much year-round . And of course, the closer you live to the coast, the more salt there is in the previously mentioned moist air. Furthermore, given the geography and weather of Florida, you are much more likely to be driving through standing water on a regular basis than in many other places.

If you want to avoid the most rust possible , you need to be in a place like Arizona or the inland empire of California.

This is based on having lived in Florida for almost 20 years, and having worked on a lot of cars that spent their whole lives there (and with some very rusty components) .

We're in Central Florida and he's taken care of it, I've actually seen it a few times in person so I can safely say that.

Sure, it’s definitely not an “all Florida cars have rust” situation, especially if they are properly maintained. But without any sort of annual inspection and just general malaise an neglect, there are plenty of cars I had come across in my years there that looked a lot worse than they should have.

For reference, I lived in Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, and Orlando.

Kinja'd!!!0

Well yeah, I guess you're right. Though still, even if somewhat maintained I'm sure the rust wouldn't be nearly as bad as it would be if the car was up north fwiw

I’ll just say, be very wary of buying a car from someone who lives along the beach in Cape Canaveral (or really anywhere along the Atlantic coast) . The salt just cakes on, even if the car isn’t driven much.

I firmly maintain that, while the lack of state inspections is great from an enthusiast perspective, it can also be frightening at time s to know that anything can be registered as road-worthy in Florida. Hell, I once registered a VW Rabbit that had three different VIN numbers and a hole rotted through the floor.
